This place is Magical! Peaceful, relaxing and beautiful. A perfect getaway packed with beautiful memories that will be treasured always. We will be back about the Same Time Next Year. Thank you for opening your summer home to us, it was a beautiful week.
One night of Memorial Day weekend, the sky and lake were a uniform inky black with nothing defining one from the other until a full moon, the color of an egg yolk, cracked the horizon. As it rose up over the lake, it cast a brilliant reflection on the water that looked like a plank laid down from which one could dive off the edge of the earth. It stretched all the way to our shore.
What a wonderful cabin, and such a rejuvenating several days we spent here. It was everything we wanted – a quiet cabin in the woods where we could see and hear Lake Michigan!
Waking up to the sound of the waves is magical. Each day and night were different – breezes, clouds, lake and temperature. Great place to unwind yet lots to do in the area.
What a sweet surprise when we first walked around the garage, taking the path to the stairs and leading us down to the shore. A little slice of heaven?
We got up early today and watched the sunrise. It takes your breath away. What an amazing view!
Sitting by the campfire in the moonlight, watching the stars, the only sounds are the crackle of the fire and the water lapping on the rocks.
We have spent a week in this wonderful cabin. It has such a warm cozy atmosphere and gorgeous view.
The birding is great in the woods across the street and around the house. A pileated woodpecker visited the yard regularly.
And of course watching the sunrise sitting by the water is a must and one of the best parts of being at “It’s All About the Lakeshore!” We had a great time!
This was our first time to Door County – what a perfect place to stay!
Thank you so much for sharing your lovely home with us. The place was even nicer than we anticipated.
Lastly, the cabin was neat, clean, and had all we needed. Just as a vacation should be.
The best part of our stay was just hangin’ out here – reading, relaxing in front of the crackling fire, and listening to the waves on the shore. Thank you, Carolyn & Rich, for opening your doors – and your hearts- to us.
“Same Time Next Year” was so inviting as soon as walked in the door. We loved the IKEA bed and furniture. It was the perfect level of “cabin-ness,” lots of wood beams, but with the much appreciated FLUSH toilet luxury. The branches on the top ledge added a nice quaint ambiance as well.
Thanks “Same Time Next Year” and Rich and Carolyn for a very relaxing and memorable honeymoon retreat!
Advice for future visitors – Eat breakfast outside in the sun looking at the lake.
Of course some of the best time we spent was sitting around the fire pit roasting marshmallow or having a cup of coffee on the back stoop. Carolyn and Rich – You’ve inspired us to get our own cabin on the lake someday!
What a perfect place to unwind and let the outside world melt away. Quiet, natural, warm and inviting. This cabin more than exceeded my expectations. The rustic/IKEA décor is wonderful.
This is the last week before school lets out – and I feel like I have all of Door County to myself. I have had one of the best weeks of my life.
This was our 3rd summer vacation we’ve spent at Shadows of Seagulls. It’s the perfect spot to immediately relax and unwind. Nothing is better than falling asleep to the sounds of Lake Michigan waves hitting the shore and sometimes waking up to these same waves. The cottage is very comfortable and we were very pleased with the obvious updates that have been made.
It’s great sitting down by the shore soaking up the sun and be totally comfortable (not too hot). Walking in the water quickly cools one off…very refreshing!
This cabin so reminds me of being young, on lakes in MN. Beautiful weather, Good nights for sleeping. Thankx
We sat together on one of the large flat rocks by the shore. The lighthouse to the north was blinking and the moon was a half crescent overhead. It was a dramatic orchestra of chromes and pinks and fire edged clouds. I could almost feel the pull of the earth to the East.
After just a two days stay, I have made a lasting promise to myself – to see more sunrises in my life.
The cabin and Door County were perfect as always. Thanks for being here.

Nice Place. The décor is outstanding. Wonderful view. Cooked all 3 dinners on the wood fire. Amazing windows. Watching the sunrise from your bed is priceless. You have the most artistic, well-constructed steps to the beach I have ever seen. Great Raspberries!
Had a fire by the water last night. What a joy to make s’mores and tell stories until it was so dark that you could only hear the water. Thanks for sharing this sanctuary with us.
